AN ONLINE PEP TALK ON ISSUES, CHALLENGES AND DILEMMAS VIS-A-VIS WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

WEशाखा- Women Cell, DAV College Sector-10 Chandigarh organised an “Online Pep talk on Issues, Challenges, Dilemmas vis a vis Women’s Empowerment” under the able guidance and dynamic leadership of College Principal Dr. Pawan Sharma. The resource person of the talk was Mrs. Maninder Sachdev, former admn. Officer, Central Bureau of Investigation, New Delhi. More than 100 participants were connected to this online event which started with an inaugural address by Dr. Meenu, faculty member WEशाखा, by extending her warm welcome to all the connected participants. She highlighted the rise of women as formidable power by virtue of her strength, courage and capabilities. Informing the audience about WEशाखा- Women Cell of the college which literally means constellation and symbolizes women as collective power.

Dr. Arti Arya deliberated upon the roles and duties performed by the cell. Mrs. Deepti Madaan, Convener, WEशाखा- Women Cell welcome the resource person Mrs. Maninder Sachdev and apprised the audience of her academic, professional and social achievements. Madam Sachdev delved deep into the problems and challenges being faced by the women in Indian Society. She engaged the connected participants in an informal and interactive way. Quoting real life incidents, she highlighted the various sensitive women related issues like Child Marriage, Honour Killing, Domestic Violence, Denial of Education to girls, Digital Gender Divide, Gender Wage Gap, Female Genital Mutilation etc. Later, she responded to the questions raised by the participants.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Deepti Madaan, Convenor, Women Cell in which she expressed her gratefulness to Mrs. Sachdev and appreciated the interests shown by participants. She expressed her gratitude to college Principal Dr. Pawan Sharma, faculty, staff and students of the college for the participation and efforts in organizing this event. She wished the world to be a better place especially for women to thrive with their skills and capabilities.
