Along with promoting school education and encouraging sports at the school level, the Competent Foundation headed by philanthropist Sanjay Tandon organized a sports kits distribution program at Govt Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 15 on Thursday wherein 39 players were benefited with sports kits. This program has been started under the guidance of Sanjay Tandon’s daughter-in-law Umang Tandon to cover maximum budding sports people at school level. As many as 175 sports kits will be distributed among the children between 10 to 16 years showing interest in sports. It is often seen that a few parents are unable to provide sports kits to their children due to financial constraints. The effort of Competent Foundation is to enhance the sports talent of children from school level resulting in strengthening of Khelo India campaign.
District President Jatinder Malhotra, Local Councilor Saurabh Joshi, Deputy Education Officer Rajan Jain, Principal of Government School Sector 22 Rajeev Kumar along with officials of Education Department – Rajeev Tandon, Balwinder Singh, Paramjit Singh, Poonam Verma, Ram Prakash and others were present on the occasion.
It is worth mentioning that during a program organized at Punjab Raj Bhavan recently, Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator Sh. Banwari Lal Purohit inaugurated this program wherein he presented sports kits to 10 players in the presence of their coaches. Appreciating this program, the Governor said this initiative will definitely be worthwhile. Along with Govt incentives, corporates also need to encourage Indian sports for which Competent Foundation has set an excellent example.
