A One day workshop on RFID TECHNOLOGY: implementation, challenges and Koha ILMS was organised by DAV College Library in collaboration with Rapid Radio Solutions Pvt LTD, Ahmedabad. Library professionals from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and tricity participated in this workshop. Sh. H. R. Gandhar, Advisor to the President, DAVCMC, New Delhi was the chief guest. Various aspects of RFID from challenges to implementation were deliberated upon. Principal Dr. Pawan Sharma welcomed the guests and participants and shared his views on the positive and negative aspects of technology. Dr. Dalip Kumar, ASPD, RUSA was the guest of honor. He motivated the library professionals to incorporate the RFID technology in their respective libraries. Prof.Rupak Chakravarty from Deptt. of Library and Information Science, PU, Chd. was the keynote speaker of the day. He apprised the participants of various advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence, RAIN RFID etc. being used in the overseas libraries. Mr. Tushar Popat from RapidRadio Solutions Pvt ltd dwelt upon the various facets of RFID, it’s challenges and integration with library software in three sessions. College librarian Deepti Madaan gave a presentation on RFID in DAVC library: from infancy to implementation. Addressing the audience she said this workshop was a step in imparting knowledge to the working library professionals about the various aspects of RFID Technology, its benefits and the ways to overcome the hurdles involved in its implementation. Dr. P. V. Rao Fellow (KM) gave a presentation on RFID Implementation in Mahatama Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (Punjab). Mr. Puneet Saini from IT solutions Pvt ltd gave a presentation on Koha the Open source ILMS. A live demo of the functioning of RFID system was also given to the participants in the college library. The participants responded enthusiastically to the upcoming technological advancements and looked forward to bring in the same in their work places. The workshop ended with the vote of thanks by the college librarian.
