Led by DOT Philippines’ Mr. Raymund Glen A. Agustin, Officer-in-Charge, Office of Product and Market Development, the delegation gave an overview of the booming tourism industry in the Philippines. The event brought together hoteliers, resorts, spas, representatives of travel attractions, tour operators from the Philippines and airlines to interact with over 85 local travel partners and buyers in B2B sessions.

Mr. Glen further affirmed that India is an important source market for the Philippines with a growth of 20 percent in Indian arrivals from January to August in 2017 in comparison with the same months last year. “Chandigarh is a key market and hence we are looking forward to strengthening our relations with local travel partners from the city. Overall, the Philippines expects to welcome 100,000 Indian tourists by 2017,” he added.

Over the last couple of years, DOT Philippines has been actively promoting the Philippines not only as a holiday destination but also for luxury, MICE, weddings and small group travel. Destinations such as Manila, Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, Palawan, and Davao have been aggressively promoted in recent years. With the AJACSS UK Visa relaxation at all international airports, the Philippines is sure to attract more Indians in 2017.
