PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized an Interactive Session with Additional Central Provident Fund Commissioner along with Senior Officials of Employees Provident Fund Organisation at PHD House organised today, at Chandigarh to understand and clarify issues and challenges in the realm of PF and moving towards Ease of Doing Business.

Dr. Ashok Khanna, Former President, PHDCCI mentioned that it is a great opportunity where one can understand and clarify issues and challenges related to Provident Fund in presence of Senior EPFO officials who can implement the participants suggestions in their respective amendments.

Mr. Ashish Mohan Wig, Co-Chair, HR & IR Committee, PHDCCI while moderating the session briefed the dignitaries about PHD Chamber. He highlighted that the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is one of the largest organization in the world in terms of membership and its funds. He informed that the session has been organized to highlight the challenges being faced by employees and employers.

While delivering the welcome address Mr. R S Sachdeva, Chair, Punjab State Chapter and MD,Hitech Industries Ltd informed the participants that in the Ease of Doing Business , India took a giant leap of 53 positions under paying taxes category, owing primarily to the online platform for electronic payment of the EPF and over a million-plus people added to the existing EPFO account holders. Mr. Sachdeva shared his own experience, stated that the local industry is currently seeing no EPF related concerns, owing to administrative initiatives aimed at easing corporate tax compliance.

Mr. Arjun Thukral, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-2, Chandigarh, EPFO gave a detailed presentation on the overview of EPFO, EPFO Act, EPF Schemes, Scope & Coverage of EPFO, benefits to employees, initiatives for pensioners, information on claim settlement and the mode of capital allocation by EPFO.
Mr. Kumar Rohit, Addl. Central Provident Commissioner, EPFO, Govt. of India along with Mr. PPS Maingi, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Chandigarh and Mr. Rakesh Kumar Panwar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner Himachal Pradesh addressed number of issues of the participants which included release of pensions of the retired employees; KYC compliance; multiple UAN; family nomination; ABY scheme etc. Mr. Kumar Rohit advised the participants to be transparent and diligent while entering information in the online system to ensure an error free functioning.

While delivering the vote of thanks, Mr. Sanjiv Singh, Co-Chair, Punjab State Chapter & MD, Gilard Electronics Private Limited, Mohali expressed his gratitude to the officials for addressing the concerns of the participants and taking note of them in order to provide permanent solutions.  He advised HR fraternity to have dedicated help desks at the office premises to address the PF related matters. Nearly 100 participants including Industry representatives and personnel from HR departments attended and benefited from the program.
