National Award winning singer Neelanjona Sabyasachi Thakur ‘Neel’ launched her first Hindi music video – ‘Yeh Boondein Yeh Baarish’ in Mumbai on Thursday 5th, October. She termed this launch of the music video as an important ‘milestone’ of her long singing career.
This music video has been shot by Director of Photography (DOP) Amrita Sen in the picturesque locations of Kurseung in West Bengal wherein the feelings of eternal love between two souls have been beautifully captured in the video through this song. This music has been launched by Neelanjona from her own music label – ChocoChoms Music LLP. Along with her longtime friend and composer Drono Acharya and lyricist Jai Shankar Prasad, Neel launched this song through YouTube, which has been highly appreciated by music lovers.
Jai’s poetic lines, Drono’s melodious composition and Neelanjona’s soulful singing created a perfect amalgamation that created the song ‘Yeh Boondein Yeh Baarish’. The song was recorded by Moon Deka at Splendid Audio Music in Mumbai and was perfectly mixed & mastered by Kohinoor Mukherjee, another old friend of Neelanjona. After this project, Neel is looking forward to singing different styles of music that touch people’s hearts.
Born in Kolkata, Neelanjona started taking her initial singing lessons from her mother Dipali Sarkar at the age of just four. Her parents at first sent her to Gitabitan, a very renowned music institution in Kolkata to learn Rabindrasangeet along with classical music for 11 years. Her talent sharpened with time & training from eminent Gurus of music.
Neel’s passion for music continued & gained momentum as she took classical music training from Shree Sadhan Chandra Roy and Shree Sunil Chattopadhyay. She also learned modern Bengali music from Shri Jatileshwar Mukhopadhyay. She gained proficiency in Western music from Mr. Carlton Kito.
After college, she formed the band Sanjeevani with her friends and released their first album in 2000. The band came up with a big hit song – ‘Destination World Cup’ during the 2003 Cricket World Cup held in South Africa. After this there was no looking back
She mesmerized music lovers with her voice on the global platform too. She performed in world-renowned auditoriums such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood and Esplanade Hall at Singapore in a musical project led by YoYo Ma, (15 Grammy Award-winning Cellist), Shri Sandip Das (Grammy Award Winner) and Wu Tong. She further extended her expertise by being a top-ranking Radio Jockey, as ‘RJ Neel’ for 17 years.
She also won many national laurels, the most importantly – the National Award for Best Playback Singer Female in 2009. She has also been awarded Big Bangla Music Award as best playback singer and Swayamsiddha Award as a Radio Jockey.
