The 22nd edition of CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 got off to a colourful start here today. Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, Anurag Aggarwal, and Mr Sandeep Jain, State Level Coordinator (Punjab) & Chief General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, inaugurated the Fair at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh, today. The chief guests also inaugurated the stall of Indian Oil, Servo at the expo and unveiled Tata Nexon car in the Auto Show four-day expo represented by over 260 exhibitors attracted huge crowds from the region on Day 1, reinforcing the expo’s position as a proven and trusted shopping hub.

Appreciating the vast variety of exhibits at the Fair, Mr Anurag Aggarwal said, “The fair has proved to be a great platform for wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, manufacturers, and representatives from various trade and non-governmental organisations, to come under one roof to meet, connect, network and grow their businesses. I congratulate CII for organising the Diwali shopping fair not only for people from Chandigarh but from the region as well.”

Mr Man Mohan Singh Kohli, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Fair 2017 and CEO, Aroma Group, said, “CII’s endeavour has always been to cater to the demands of the people from the region. For past 21 years CII has been bringing the very best in consumer products etc. for the discerning Diwali shoppers from the region and this year we have introduced very attractive discounts & gifts, fun activities for children besides the London Red bus etc to live up to the expectations of the people. “We are confident that people want to see what they are buying as ‘Jo dikhta hai vo bikta hai’ ass against going for online shopping. The Fair provides very effective people-to-people contact,” Singh said.

“The effect of GST, if any, will be offset by the huge discounts on all products that are available under one roof at the Fair. Special shop and win prizes on shopping for Rs 3,000 will be added attraction for anyone coming to the Fair,” he added.

Some of the major Industry participants have come forward as Sponsors in various categories and welcomed the visitors with their festive offers. The event is supported by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India & National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC); Indian Oil as Event Sponsor; BSNL as Principal Sponsor; ATS Group, GBP Group, SBI and Veeba as Associate Sponsors. As many as 14 brands are taking part in the shop to win lucky draw on shopping for Rs 3000. The Fair has 260 exhibitors at the 14 expos at the Fair. Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, is conducting free consultation clinics for visitors.

Health Experts Speak

In a first, medical experts have been invited to speak on lifestyle related health issues at the Fair. Department of AYUSH, Chandigarh, has nominated Dr Manju Shree, Assistant Director (Homeopathy) and Dr Rajiv Kapila, Senior Ayurvedic Physician who will deliver talks on Saturday, Day 2 of the Fair between 5 and 6 pm on treatment of ddiabetes in Ayurveda and Homoeopathy’. On Day 3, Dr N S Bhardwaj, Deputy Director, Ayurveda, and Dr Manisha Arora, Senior Dietician, GMCH, Sector 16, Chandigarh, will deliver a talk between 5 and 6 pm at the Fair on the topic of Role of lifestyle and food habits in health.
