Department of Environment Studies and Environment Awareness Society “Dharini” of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh in collaboration with NGO, “Organic Sharing” organized a Go Green Workshop. Principal of the college, Dr. Abha Sudarshan and Mr.Rahul Mahajan Founder, Organic Sharing, an NGO along with the faculty and students planted saplings of fruit bearing trees in the college campus. Principal, Dr. Sudarshan while appreciating the endeavour said that such workshops are very useful as they stress on the action component and help in inculcating eco-friendly practises in the students. The plantation drive was followed by a composting workshop by Mr.Rahul Mahajan. He demonstrated the easy and very practical ways of composting the kitchen waste as well as yard waste. The Termite treatment of trees was also done by Organic Sharing, and its representatives. The NGO provided this service free of cost which would aid in the growth of trees. The event was organised by Dr. Ritu Sarsoha (HoD) and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur.
Earlier in the day, the Department of Economics of the College organised an awareness talk on the topic, “Higher Education and Career Opportunities in Economics and Management”. Principal Dr. Abha Sudarshan was the chief guest on the occasion. The talk was delivered by Dr Sujata, assistant professor in the department of Economics. Principal Dr. Abha Sudarshan gave away prizes to the meritorious students of the Department. Dr. Sudarshan congratulated and encouraged the students to realise their potential and make the most of all opportunities. Dr Baljeet Singh, Vice Principal of college also graced the occasion. The event was organised by Ms. Vandana, HoD and Dr. Manisha Gaur, Department of Economics.
