Nari Jagriti Manch, today organized a unique event to commemorate International Women’s Day at Sector 40 Hanumant Dham Temple here. On this occasion Nilambari Jagadale, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Chandigarh  was the chief guest.  Speaking on the occasion, SSP asked everyone present to take pledge to eliminate all evils against women. She said that I am very happy to see small girls demonstrating Self defence techniques.

She further emphasized on the importance of Self defence learning for each women. She also showered her blessings on those small girls for their bright future and said that My only award is to see other women happy by my work and help towards them.

Among other prominent personalities present included Neena Tiwari, President of the Manch, Manju Sharma, Joint Registrar, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Guest of Honour Asha Jaswal, Ex. Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, Neena Chopra, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department and other members.

On this occasion, Neena Tiwari felicitated Nilambari Jagadale and other prominent personalities. In addition to this, 30 handicapped poor persons were handed over artificial limbs, while poor girls were given bicycles. Girls getting training of Taekwondo at the temple were also felicitated for their outstanding performances.

Neena Tiwari, while speaking on the occasion said woman power needs to be recognized. She said women have excelled in all areas and have set an example in the society, adding everyone should respect the women for their contribution to the society. She also briefed the various activities of Manch like poor girl’s marriages and free education and self defense training for girls etc.

A demonstration was also organized by Taekwondo trainees. Poems were also recited and songs sung on this occasion.
