The annual convocation of postgraduates and graduates of UIET Chandigarh, UICET Chandigarh and UIET SSGPURC Hoshiarpur of batch 2016 was organised at the university law auditorium on May 8, 2017.
The ceremony started with the Panjab University’s Anthem followed by the lamp lighting ceremony by the chief guest Dr.Harsh Vardhan, guest of honour Dr. Rajeev Bindal and other PU dignitaries.
The guest of honour Dr. Rajeev Bindal ,MLA, Nahan (HP) extended felicitations of the students and wished them good luck for their future.
The chief guest of the ceremony Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the incumbent minister at the ministry of science and technology and earth sciences, India delivered the convocation address on the occasion. He proudly shared that P.U. has always produced visionaries and leaders who have been inspiring generations. He mainly focused on the importance of the knowledge that students get from their teachers, which will help them to choose the right path in their life. He motivated the students to come up with the innovative ideas and that Government of India has plans to support from Start up India and Stand up India campaign. He said that honesty is the only ladder to reach the highest of the highest. He added that power of the truth, honesty, love, compassion, karma and God is unbeatable.
The degree distribution started with presentation by Prof. Renu Vig, Director of UIET Chandigarh showing the progress of the institution. In total 55 students of CSE (BE), 12 (ME), IT (57- BE, 7- ME), ECE (57 BE, 17 ME), MECHANICAL (48 BE, 7 ME), BIOTECH (40 BE) received their degrees. The ceremony concluded with broad smile and countless hopes, promises on the face of young graduates. They promised to make their alma matter proud with service to society.
