Padamshree Dr. (Prof.) Jagat Ram, Director – Cornea & Cataract Services, Grewal Eye Institute, Chandigarh has got the Best Scientific Video Award for management of pediatric cataract with PHPV. He was previously the Director of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Dr. Jagat Ram also bagged the Best Team Trophy for surgical videos along with Dr. Purendra Bhasin, Dr. Amit Porwal and Dr. Surendra Bastiat the convention.
He got the award at Intraocular Implant & Refractive Society of India (IIRSI) convention at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh last week that saw many distinguished professors, medical specialists and surgeons participating in it. It is a platform for interaction within Ophthalmologists across the world for discussing advancements and their experience in IOL implantation and LASIK & Refractive Surgery.
Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (PHPV), is a failure of the regression of a component of fetal vessels within the eye. It is a rare condition and needs highly skilled surgery on little babies.
Dr. Jagat Ram has been a pioneer in the field of Cataract surgery in the new born. He has authored a book on the very subject earning him a repute among the world’s best Cornea and Cataract surgeons.
This convention provided an opportunity to interact with world-renowned faculty from India and abroad, showcasing the latest advances and cutting-edge technology in the field of cataract and refractive surgery. Live surgeries, several interactive sessions, lectures, and activities were performed to keep the specialists engaged throughout one and a half days.
