DIVYA AZAD

A group of 21 ecstatic students from classes VI to VIII accompanied by two teachers from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh went on a memorable cultural and heritage trip to Chennai for six days in the second week of April 2017. The trip was organised especially for the students who are learning the dance form – Bharatnatyam at school. It was a truly learning experience for the students as they got an opportunity to visit ‘Kalakshetra’ a renowned dance institution in Mahabalipuram. The students also attended a workshop where they were taught facial expressions and other intricacies of Bharatnatyam. The students were also taken to visit famous temples in and around Chennai where the dance students perform in front of the deities. Several places of historical importance and scenic beauty were also visited by the students and the trip left an indelible imprint in the minds of the children.
