Vijay Inder Singla, Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib Constituency, campaigned and addressed a gathering in Rupnagar today. Many supporters poured in to show their solidarity to Singla. People from all walks of life joined the campaign and cheered for him. His rally garnered support from notable figures such as Barinder Dhillon – Halka In-charge Rupnagar, Amarjit Saini, Ex District President, Ropar and Ramesh Goyal, Ex Member AICC.
Addressing the gathered crowds in several public meetings, Vijay Inder Singla articulated, “Punjab is witnessing a hooliganism and arm twisting at all levels in the current regime whether it’s BJP or AAP. Congress party has zero tolerance for such doings, and we promise to strike down these acts and hence, I request you to stand by us as we will prevail a just law and order in the state of Punjab. The imminent election is a critical turning point in the country’s democratic journey, and I urge you all to form a united front against the atmosphere of dread and worry that the current regime has shaped.”
Vijay Inder Singla urged everyone gathered to come in large numbers to save the democracy by casting their votes and stressed on the fact that every vote counts. He thanked the leaders gathered, recognizing the Congress party’s historical contribution to the growth of the country’s economy and Punjab’s prosperity. He reiterated party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Punjab and the nation with implementation of MSP on crops, national minimum wage of Rs 400 per day, encompassing the wages of workers engaged under MGNREGA and introduction of a Right to Apprenticeship Act under which eligible youth would have the opportunity to engage in a one-year apprenticeship program with various companies across the country, with an annual stipend of Rs 1 lakh.
“The BJP government has been giving ‘lolipops’ in the name of employment since the last 10 years. Mr. Rahul Gandhi and his manifesto promises of scrapping contractualisation of regular jobs in govt, PSUs and will ensure regularisation of such appointments.” Added Singla.
Singla’s campaign started early morning from Rupnagar, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park, Lahrari Shah Mandir, Tibbi Sahib, Madhpur, Purkali, Bhangal to Majri Thekedar in the afternoon and continuing with Ward no 9,4 & 3 in the evening.
