DIVYA AZAD

The teaching and non-teaching staff of different colleges in Chandigarh today expressed their dissent against the insensitive attitude of the administration by holding a joint dharna of one hour in their respective colleges. A joint Dharna at DAV College from 2 pm to 3 pm, SGGS College from 11 am to 12 pm, GGDSD College from 12 pm to 1pm, MCM DAV College from 11 am to 12 pm, GGSCW, Sector 26 from 12 pm to 1 pm, Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, from 12 pm to 1 pm, and Dev Samaj College of education, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm was marked by the huge participation of the teaching and non-teaching staff showcasing their resentment against the consistently ignorant attitude of administration toward their genuine and most legitimate demands.

Both teaching and non-teaching staff of Chandigarh colleges, showcased their strength by joining in large numbers as many of their issues still stand unresolved, which include, inordinate delay in the implementation of central service rules, pending promotions from last many years, endorsement of notification issued by Punjab government regarding pay commission, and the implementation of the same in Chandigarh, which has been implemented all across the country including all UTs and states except U.T Chandigarh.

Also, the probation of new appointments must be of 1 year with full scale, but no decision in this regard has been undertaken by the administration. Both the teaching and non-teaching staff will also hold a candle march at Sector 17 Bhawan, at 6 pm on 21st November. Representatives of both teaching and non-teaching staff warned that in case of much delay in the adoption of their demands they will intensify their struggle and would be forced to launch a strong agitation against the administration.
