The Department of History, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh is going to organize a National Seminar on Master Tara Singh in Indian History: Colonialism Nationalism and Politics of Sikh Identity, sponsored by Sikh Educational Society, Chandigarh on 18th April, 2018. The purpose of this seminar is to analyze the life and achievement of Master Tara Singh. The idea of this seminar has come from the new book entitled Master Tara Singh in Indian History: Colonialism Nationalism and Politics of Sikh Identity written by Professor Jagtar Singh Grewal (Padma Shri Awardee), Former Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

In the seminar, this book will be released and Professor Raghuvendra Tanwar, Emeritus Professor in History, Kurukshetra will review the book. Jathedar Gobind Singh Longowal, President, Shromani Gurudwara Prabadhak Committee, Amritsar and Professor Jaspal Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala will be Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. Professor Prithipal Singh Kapur, Former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Professor Indu Banga, Emeritus Professor in History, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and many academicians will grace the occasion. The initiative of this seminar has been taken by S. Gurdev Singh (I.A.S Retd.), President, SES, Chandigarh and Col. Jasmer Singh Bala (Retd.), Secretary, SES, Chandigarh.

The purpose of this seminar is to give a platform to academicians and researchers to unravel the variant personification of Master Tara Singh. This seminar will help the students and researchers to re-evaluate Master Tara Singh’s important role in Indian History.
