Haryana Governor Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki inaugurated a three days photo exhibition titled ‘A Kaleidoscope of Journeys’ at Govt. Museum & Art Gallery here today. The exhibition has photos captured by Dr. Sumita Misra, Principal Secretary, Archaeology and Museums, Haryana during her travels within and outside India.
The Governor took a round of the exhibition and appreciated this creative contribution towards our society. He said that such creative work motivates others to have a creative vision. This inculcates sensitivity in the individual which enables one to be more compassionate & responsive in the work place especially towards the less empowered sections of society, he added.
Congratulating Dr. Sumita Misra for this accomplishment Prof. Solanki said that she has presented this beautiful world in a new perspective through her photos. Her photography demonstrates that the imagination can be eloquently expressed in non-grammatical ways that are not tied to the formality of spoken or written language, he said.
Prof. Solanki further said that any creative contribution towards our society through the pen or eye of a bureaucrat is doubly commendable as bureaucrats have always been busy in their duty. Dr. Sumita Misra is a bureaucrat, a poet and with this accomplishment now she has also been an artist, he added.
Through the photo exhibition, Dr. Sumita Misra, IAS, has shared the memories of her travels. She has been keen photographer for the last 10-15 years. These photographs cover various places. She has visited over the years and seeks to capture moments that reflect a sense of timelessness and evoke feelings of spirituality through the experience of nature. The 50 photographs in the exhibition were shortlisted after getting through thousands of photographs. The photos range from the peaks of Tungnath and Kedarnath, to the glacial landscapes of Alaska; from the teeming wilderness of Africa to the serene seaside of Scandinavia.
The common factor in the images is her love for nature. The glorious colours of our beautiful world are richly brought out by her photographic eye.
The exhibition is on from 3rd March to 5th March at the fort Art Museum, Sector-10, Chandigarh from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
