On the occasion of Teachers Day President Sharda kathpalia & Secretary Anupama Sawhney of Inner Wheel Club Chandigarh Aashiyana felicitated 2 educators who are making grassroot level change in their respective fields. Mrs. Meenu Sharma- Hindi mistress in Government Senior Secondary School, Behlolpur has been entrusted with creating awareness during the pandemic in rural areas. Converting her physical challenge into her main strength, she motivates students to keep smiling in all adverse conditions and focus on only the positives. Her dedication and humility are an inspiration for her peers and students.Dr Sumita Sikka is the head of Fashion Designing Department at SD College, Chandigarh.She has been instrumental in developing post graduate programme in Vocational Studies that is, M.Voc Fashion Technology and Apparel Design that has been sanctioned by UGC. She is an ardent promoter of sustainable fashion and ethical design. Her area of research is potentially policy formulating at the government level for managing textile waste through the extensive use of handicraft techniques. She believes in the constant learning and teachings of handicraft skills that promotes resurrection of the heritage craft as well manage textile waste and empower women. She believes in innovation and practices it diligently in her designs and teachings.
