Dr. Savita Chaudhary, an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemistry, Panjab
University(PU), has been conferred with the Haryana Yuva Vigan Ratan Award of the
year 2014-2015, for her contributions in the field of Nanochemistry, by the Haryana
State Council for Science & Technology. Haryana Government will honour Dr. Savita
with a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation and trophy as a token of appreciation
and encouragement for her excellent work in the interest of Haryana and the Nation.
Associated with Panjab University for the past 18 years, first as student then as
faculty, she has developed efficient means for the treatment of polluted water by
using the applications of functionalized nanomaterials. She has published more than
50 publications in peer reviewed journals. She is bestowed with 529- citations, h-
index value of 11 and i10 index= 11. Her work on Selenium nanoparticles was well
appreciated in Progress in Material Science research journal with impact factor of
31.08. Utilising the applications of nanomaterials, she played a lead role for
preparing various sensory devices for analysing the harmful pollutants such as
aromatic nitro compounds, cyanide and mercury ions with great accuracy and
sensitivity.
