Chandigarh Mayor, Anup Gupta today inaugurated the four-day architecture expo, ARCHEX at Parade Ground in Sector 17 here. The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Chandigarh Chapter in association with Minds Media and Management Pvt. Ltd. is holding ARCHEX, an exhibition on interiors, exteriors and construction material, from 10 to 13th February at the Parade Ground in Sector 17, Chandigarh.

The exhibition timings are from 10 am to 7 pm and there is no entry fee.

It is supported by The Green and Eco-Friendly Movement (GEM) of ASSOCHAM, Chandigarh Chapter and Chandigarh Chapter of Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI).

The exhibition is categorised into three sections, each covering a different facet of Architecture, Construction & Home Décor.

For all those looking forward to refurbishing the interiors of their homes & offices, this expo proves to be a blessing in disguise. The exhibition has a large variety of new products and modern designs in modular kitchen, baths, sanitaryware, lighting and decorative items, interior and exterior decors.

Surinder Bahga, President, FSAI, Chandigarh Chapter, said, “ARCHEX is a millennial initiative to pay an ode to the latest trends. In today’s fast-paced world, it is quintessential to stay abreast with the evolving trend-setters in the interiors & architectural industry and needless to say, this expo stands testament to the same.”

A food court at the venue has different varieties available which is sure to tickle the palate. Other highlights of the expo included designer fans, home automation, dining sets, office furniture, ethnic & carved furniture, decorative lamps & lights, cutlery & crockery, pots &murals, blinds, aquariums, artefacts & handicrafts, bunker beds, glass paintings and a range of other decorative items.

“With an all-new context and inclusion of unique architectural landscape, the expo has embraced opulent products & technology. Thereby taking the architectural scene a notch higher in Chandigarh”, said Architect Shiv Dev Singh, Chairman IIA, Chandigarh Chapter.


More than 120 big brands are coming from across the country and showcasing the latest and trendy products and services to build and redesign a building to their visitors.

Various segments on display include, bath and sanitary, natural stone, marble and granite, tiles and ceramics, water technologies , designer doors and windows, floorings, roofing techniques, home furnishings, home and office furniture, kitchen and bath technologies, electrical etc, to name a few.

A seminar on “Chandigarh: Growth vs Preservation was organised at ARCHEX. Opening remarks were given by Architect Surinder Bahga followed by a presentation on smart city. A Panel discussion was attended by Anup Gupta, Mayor, and noted architects, Sumit Kaur, Chandigarh Heritage Committee; Namita Singh, Practicing Architect, Sangeeta Bagga Principal Chandigarh College of ArchitectureVinod Vashisht Convenor Resident Welfare Organisation, Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, UT Chandigarh AND Architect Shilpa Das Host and Moderator. Presentation on “From Sector to Neighbourhood “ was given by Ar Shilpa Das.

Architects who have contributed in the field will be felicitated on the occasion, and Day 2 would include a seminar to be moderated by young architects.
