DFC kicked off their I-League 2024-25 campaign with a gritty 0-0 draw against Namdhari FC at their home turf. The closely contested encounter saw DFC dominate proceedings, but they were unable to find the back of the net despite creating numerous scoring opportunities.
From the opening whistle, DFC showcased their intent, with captain Stephen Acquah leading by example at the back. The Ghanaian defender made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Namdhari a certain goal, while goalkeeper Muansanga pulled off several important saves to keep the hosts at bay.
DFC’s attacking trio of Vinil, Hridaya, and Hriata caused constant headaches for the Namdhari defense, but they were unable to find the breakthrough. The hosts were reduced to ten men in the second half, but they defended resolutely to deny DFC the three points.
DFC’s substitutes, including Samson Keishing, Binong, and Himanshu Jangra, added fresh impetus to the team’s attack, but Namdhari’s defense held firm. Despite the frustration of not finding the back of the net, DFC will take heart from their dominant performance and the valuable point earned on the road.
At the end of the day, DFC will be content with the point, but they know that they could have won the game, given the number of chances they created. DFC will take the positives from this game and move forward.
DFC’s next assignment is another away trip, this time to face Inter Kashi. The match promises to be another stern test for Yan Law’s men, but they will be buoyed by their solid start to the season.
