To promote GST readiness, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a workshop on ‘GST: Let’s get ready’ at CII Northern region Headquarters, here today. Ms Rachana Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Central Excise and Service Tax Commisionerate, Chandigarh, apprised the participants about the new tax regime and how to be prepared for the same.

Ms Singh interacted with the participants and spoke about the matters to be treated as supply of goods and services. She said, “Industry must be ready for the new GST regime and get registered at the earliest. Implementation of GST will ensure that there is no ‘tax on tax’ and that the benefits go to the customers. GST is also a major business reform.”

 Mr Keshav Garg, Chartered Accountant & Partner, KD & Associates, GST, said “GST being destination-based consumption tax, Chandigarh is set to gain a lot.”

 Mr Naveen Garg, Chartered Accountant & Partner, DMRN & Associates, said, “GST will simplify credit mechanism and tax would be on value addition.”
