The Sewing Workshop kick started at Sanauli Ashish Mittal Foundation inaugurated sewing centre to impart sewing skill training to the underprivileged women from rural areas. The training programme is in association with TIGR2ESS project Panjab University, Chandigarh.  As many as 25 women participants enrolled for the first batch.

Brother Abhishek Mittal while addressing the audience highlighted that Ashish Mittal Foundation will provide full support and do the handholding till the participants become self-dependent. Dr. Monika Aggarwal, Associate Professor, UIAMS, Panjab University in her welcome address highlighted the importance of skill training and entrepreneurship for sustainable living. Ms. Harpreet Kaur, Junior Research Fellow, PU-TIGR2ESS throw light on the training process and gave a brief demonstration of the training workshop.

Dr. Radha Kanwal Sharma, Post Doctoral Research Associate said that the duration of the project will be 6 months which will have capacity building workshops alongwith entrepreneurship interventions. Dr. Prabhdip Brar, UIFT&VD, Panjab University highlighted how creativity can lead to innovative products that too from the totally waste clothes.  Further she said the focus of the workshop will be on making products from such clothes.

Mr. Ashish Mittal, Chairman, Ashish Mittal Foundation in his address said the objective of the Foundation is to uplift the social and economic status of underprivileged women by imparting skill based education and training. Dr. Rita Kant proposed vote of thanks and appreciated efforts of Ashish Mittal Foundation in taking the project forward and making all necessary arrangements.
