ANTI-CRACKER RALLY IN PGGCG-11, CHANDIGARH

“PRAKRITI” The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh in collaboration with NSS and Alumni Association-NOSTALGIA organized awareness campaign on safe and pollution free DIWALI today.

On this occasion a human chain was formed and a rally was organized by the members of faculty and students. The rally was flagged off by Principal Prof. Anita Kaushal. She emphasized on the importance of celebrating an Eco-friendly Deepawali and thereby reducing the air and noise pollution. Also present on the occasion were Dean Prof. Kanwar Iqbal and Vice Principal Prof. Nirupama Luthra.
This was followed by a pledge by the faculty members and students to celebrate a safe and pollution free Diwali by not bursting crackers and thereby protecting the environment. They further pledged to spread this message to one and all. Students also recited poems about the hazardous effects of crackers and the plight of children working in the cracker industry.

More than 200 students participated in the awareness campaign. Students holding placards, flags and banners called out slogans conveying the message of celebrating cracker free festival. This rally spread awareness within the campus as well as outside the campus.

The Anti-Cracker Rally proved to be a source of inspiration to all the faculty members and students of the College.
