Under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal, “PRAKRITI” The Environment Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April 2022 by organizing following Events:
Plantation
Intra college best out of waste competition
Lecture on the theme “ invest in our planet”
Nukkad nata
Human chain formation
Pledge on “ save mother earth”
Programme started with the tree Plantation ceremony inside the college campus by eminent guests, faculty members and students of the Society. About 40 saplings of fruit trees like Guava, mango, Jamun were planted. Plants were also adopted by Students of Prakriti- the Environment Society. They all took a pledge that they will take care of their Plants during their stay in College and they were asked to send a geo-tagged pic of their plant every month to their teacher In-charge.


An Intra College Best Out of Waste Competition was also organized in which as many as 30 students participated. This was followed Nukkad Natak in which impact of various kinds of pollutants on Mother Earth was very beautifully shown by the students of PRAKRITI. After that, a Human Chain was formed by student members of PRAKRITI – The Environment Society. They were holding placards with slogans like “CEAN UP EARTH, IT’S THE ONLY HOME WE HAVE”, “A CLEAN EARTH IS A HAPPY EARTH”, “KEEP THE EARTH CLEAN AND GREEN”, “ NO DIRT THIS IS EARTH”, “POLLUTION IS NOT A SOLUTION” etc. Then a pledge to save mother earth was administered by Dean of the College, Mr. Ajay Sharma, and faculty members pledged allegiance to the Earth and to the flora, fauna and human life that it supports, one planet indivisible, with safe air, water & soil, economic justice, equal rights and peace for all. The Function concluded with the prize distribution ceremony to the winners of best out of waste competition.
