Workshops on GST and Leadership held at MCM

The Postgraduate Department of Economics of MCM DAV College for Women held an awareness programme on Goods and Services Tax (GST) for its students and faculty. Organised under the aegis of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the programme aimed at making the participants aware of the various aspects of one of the biggest reforms in India’s indirect tax structure that is GST. Dr. Smita Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, PU was the resource person for the programme. The expert, in a lucid manner, explained the nuances, impact and challenges in implementation of GST and its implications for the economy as well as the general population. Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Smita said that the introduction of GST will change the federal system of governance and besides increasing the GDP, it will boost revenue and investment and make life simpler. The audience found the insights of the expert highly enlightening. In another event, the department of Public Administration and Club of MCM DAV Public Administration Students (COMPASS) organized a RUSA sponsored workshop on Leadership. Mr. Amit Hans, Founder Director, EduCorp Trainings, Chandigarh, in three highly informative sessions, apprised the participants of various aspects of leadership. In the first session, Mr. Amit spoke about leadership qualities, coordination, concentration and rationality while the second session focused on decision making, motivation, confidence and initiative and the third session was about organisational communication. In this highly interactive workshop, the expert also administered certain inventories and games to the participants. Citing examples from real life, Mr.Amit reiterated that orientation is the defining factor in success of an individual.

Appreciating the endeavours of both the departments, Principal Dr.Nisha Bhargava said that such programmes are imperative as they chisel the personality of the students by widening their horizons.
