The four-day long cultural extravaganza of GGDSD College here concluded with its Annual Function – ‘VIRASAT 2017’ on the campus today. This mega cultural festival witnessed a huge gathering of students that participated enthusiastically in the various events. The mood was festive as students cheered loudly and rooted for their favourite contestants. The day saw a lively medley of dances, bhajans, skits, songs and enthralling cultural items.
The highlight of the day was a live performance by the popular Punjabi singer Mankirat Aulakh whose foot tapping, energetic performance had the audience enthralled and clapping throughout his performance. It was followed by a mesmerising performance by Swastik band, a group of youngsters that evoked loud applause every minute of their show.
Mr Depinder Singh, Special Secretary (Transport), Govt of Punjab, was the chief guest in the morning session. Principal Dr Bhushan K Sharma welcomed everyone and congratulated the students and staff for the week long cultural bonanza. Mr Upkar Krishan Sharma, President, GGDSD College Society appreciated the teamwork and enthusiasm of the students.
Addressing the gathering Mr Depinder Singh congratulated the Principal, Management, Staff and the Students of the college for being awarded A + Grade by NAAC . He urged students to do work hard, dream big and work for the betterment of the society and the nation.
Dr Eish Singha (IPS), SSP, Chandigarh Police, graced the occasion as chief guest in the evening session . Dr. Eish congratulated the participants and lauded the efforts being made by the college in organizing such cultural festivals that foster leadership, teamwork among the students and encourage them to showcase their talents.
Ms Vritika, student of BSc (Hons) Biotechnology and Mr Harprabhjit, student of MSc Biotechnology were adjudged Ms and Mr Virasat respectively.
