The library of DAV College, Sector-10, Chandigarh organized a talk on “Research Management and Plagiarism: a practical approach” on March 2nd, 2017. Mrs. Deepti Madaan, College Librarian apprised the audience about the reasons to choose this theme. She underlined the importance of undertaking ethical research as plagiarism has become a major academic menace. The resource person Dr. Rupak Chakravarty, Chairperson, Deptt. of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh acquainted the audience with the various freely available anti-plagiarism tools to detect the instances of plagiarism. Elaborating further he discussed in detail the solution to prevent plagiarism with special emphasis on Mendeley- the citation manager. Dr. Chakravarty highlighted various services offered by Mendeley i.e., from managing the references to the research network which makes Mendeley a very useful and powerful tool for the researchers. The talk evoked good response from the audience which comprised faculty members, research scholars and Post graduates of the college. More than 200 participants were benefitted through this workshop.
