Basant Panchami celebrated in PGGCG-11

The Cultural Society of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organised a Music Concert to mark the festive occasion of Basant Panchami today. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college, inaugurated the function by paying tribute to Goddess Saraswati, the bestower of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, learning, philosophy and creativity. Prof. Rama Arora, Dean and Mr. Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Vice-Principal also graced the occasion. Faculty members and students of departments of Music (Vocal), Music (Instrumental) and Dance participated in the function.
Dr. Monica Gyan Soni, an exponent of Kirana gharana and faculty member rendered Rag Charukeshi followed by Rag Mala which concluded with Saraswati Vandana in Rag Basant. She was accompanied by Prof. Murali Dhar on harmonium and Mr. Suersh Kumar on tabla. Mr. Ashok Kumar, a faculty member gave sitar recital and performed Rag Bilaskhani Todi and two compositions in Basant Rag, the most suitable for the occasion. He was accompanied by Mr. Gurprit Singh on tabla.
