A Workshop on ‘Sports Injuries & Basic Life Support’ was organised at Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18, Chandigarh. The workshop which was jointly organised by Trinity Hospital, Zirakpur in association with Department of Education, Chandigarh Administration, witnessed participation from over 150 physical education teachers from all over the Tri-city.

An awareness session on Prevention & Management of Sports Injuries was also organized by Dr Mohinder Kaushal, Chairman and Head, Department of Orthopaedics. He spoke extensively on various types of Sports injuries and shared valuable tips and strategies to prevent and treat common sports injures.

Dr Mukul Kaushal, Consultant, Shoulder and Sports Injury specialist, threw light on Common sports injuries in budding athletes. He shared various Dos and Don’ts related to sports injuries and he also clarified various misconceptions and myths regarding athletic injuries.

According to Dr Mohinder Kaushal, “This is an excellent initiative by the Hospital in collaboration with Education Department of Chandigarh education to promote and create awareness regarding important life saving skills amongst sports teachers”.

The BLS Training was imparted by ACLS and BLS trained team ably led by Dr Gagandeep Ghuman, Consultant, Anaesthesiology and Dr Samir Kumar, Consultant, Internal medicine. They demonstrated and educated the teachers about the importance of first aid and basic life- saving skills. The session was followed by hands- on Practice sessions on adult mannequins.
