More than 100 senior citizens from Mohali Senior Citizens Association attended an informative session here at Fortis Hospital. Dr Atul Sharma Joshi, Additional Director, Breast, Endocrine and General Surgery was the keynote speaker on the occasion.

While addressing the senior citizens, Dr Joshi spoke about Breast Cancer and how to identify the signs and symptoms as early diagnosis results in better treatment options.   He also elaborated on the risk factors when the ailment goes unnoticed and undiagnosed. He said self-examination and by regularly consulting a physician, and by undergoing routine health checks, an ailment like cancer can be timely treated.

Since the session coincided with International Women’s Day, the hospital organised a fun filled session which saw the senior ladies take to the stage in a ramp walk. The winners were felicitated by Dr Atul Joshi.

In addition, another fun activity was organised, wherein the husbands took to the mike and spoke about their wives and how their support and love has enabled them to live such happy and successful lives. The event was a celebration of womanhood and also to spread awareness about breast cancer.
